Government launches the National Retrofitting Scheme

The Government has today approved a package of supports to make it easier and more affordable for homeowners to undertake home energy upgrades, for warmer, healthier and more comfortable homes, with lower energy bills. The measures address barriers to undertaking energy upgrades (retrofits) reported by homeowners and those working in the industry. They also reflect the step-change needed – in pace and scale of delivery – to achieve our target of 500,000 home energy upgrades, to B2 Building Energy Rating (BER) standard, by 2030.

Increased grant rates and supports for step-by-step home upgrades

Grant supports (under the Better Energy Homes Scheme) for homeowners that want to take a step-by-step approach to upgrading their homes have also been significantly increased. For instance, the grant for heat pumps has increased from €3,500 to €6,500 and the rate for external wall insulation has increased from €6,000 to €8,000 for a detached house. These figures specifically relate to grant amounts for this step-by-step approach.

‘EcoVision’ the new name for Energy Communities Tipperary Cooperative

A COOPERATIVE that started out over a decade ago working in close partnership with householders in Drombane in Tipperary to make their properties more energy efficient and sustainable has grown beyond the imaginations of its founders, such is the demand for the services it provides today.

The work carried out with the four above communities in North Tipperary was overseen by founding members of the co-op, then known as Energy Communities Tipperary Cooperative. But now the co-op has been rebranded as EcoVision to reflect the expansion of its role into Clare and Limerick.

Ireland, she said, had one of the progressive sustainable energy grant systems in Europe and was working hard to achieve its climate action targets. EcoVision had formed strong working relationships with several organisations working in the sustainable energy sector in Ireland. The co-op had a fantastic team of contractors who were experts in retrofitting and other sustainable energy knowledge who were helping it achieve its mission.

Metro stands as your trusted construction partner for upgrading and retrofitting, ensuring your projects meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
